Looking at the Taiwanese Smartphone industry in the first quarter of 2011, it is observed that HTC continued to expand its production capacities of its manufacturing bases located in Taoyuan and Shanghai and at the same time enhanced its global brand name recognition. Owing to its global promotion effort, it is projected that HTC's shipment volume has exceeded three million units per month. Benefiting from immense Smartphone popularity worldwide, HTC's shipment volume in the first quarter of 2011, traditionally an off-season, is estimated to arrive at approximately 9.7 million units, exceeding that of the fourth quarter of 2010. Driven by strong shipment performance of HTC, it is estimated that the overall shipment volume of the Taiwanese Smartphone industry in the first quarter of 2011 stood at approximately 30.8 million units, down 3.0% sequentially, while shipment value reached around US$7.99 billion, down 3.1% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010.
